Choosing Your Bonsai Pots

If you are into growing plants and trees, you know that pots play a major role in determining how long these things will live and how well they will thrive. Bonsai pots should be just right in shape, size, and style. You cannot just grab anything without even considering if it is appropriate for your specific bonsai tree. Having said this, you should get your bonsai tree the pot that it needs in order to maximize its beauty and life.

Bonsai pots have a huge impact on trees and can either compliment them or detract from them. Also, bonsai pots should be able to meet the needs of your bonsai tree. Aside from this, you should consider a lot of factors when shopping for bonsai pots.

To begin with, the bonsai pots that you buy should be big and strong enough to hold your tree. It would be useless and a total waste of money if you will look for something that will not support the weight of your bonsai tree. Certainly, that choice of bonsai pots will only last you a short period of time. Repotting will probably be required at some point.

Given the fact that most bonsai trees are displayed on tables and mantles, you should go for light bonsai pots that will not break a glass table. Also, the bonsai pots have to be symmetrically balanced so they will not be easily knocked over every time someone passes the area where the tree are located.

Moreover, make sure that the look of the bonsai pots will work well with the bonsai trees. Out of the different styles and designs, choose one that will bring out the beauty of the tree even more. Also, make sure that you can discern if the bonsai pots are durable enough or not. There are some bonsai pots that easily get broken. This would not only be inconvenient to you but also might harm your bonsai tree.

Furthermore, make sure that you shop for bonsai pots that will enable your tree to grow comfortably for two years time. If your bonsai pots are too small, they might keep your bonsai trees from thriving. It is recommended that it should at least last for two years because then you will need to repot and trim down the roots anyway.

Another thing that you need to be certain of is that there are holes in the bottom of the bonsai pots. This will serve for drainage of the water to prevent clogging. Make it a point to check if the holes are big enough so your tree will be perfectly healthy.

A tray should be underneath the bonsai pots as well. This will prevent your bonsai tree from getting soaked in water which can kill it. Finally, study to understand the needs of your plant. Analyze what will fit well for your bonsai trees since various trees require different bonsai pots.
